Chai is a rescue dog who came into our lives through A Dog’s New Life, a special nonprofit in the nearby town of Bucerías.
This local organization is built on compassion. Every day, they dedicate themselves to rescuing, sheltering, and rehabilitating street dogs who have endured neglect, abandonment, or injury. Their mission is as inspiring as it is simple: give each dog a second chance at life, and help them find loving homes across Mexico, the United States, and Canada. From providing veterinary care to arranging adoptions abroad, they make sure every furry friend has a safe path forward. Thanks to their tireless work, countless dogs like Chai have found not just shelter, but a family.

This has been a source of pure joy for many of our guests, who can now enjoy sunlit mornings, playful afternoons, and unforgettable memories with their beloved companions right here by Banderas Bay.
It was in this spirit of warmth and inclusivity that Chai became part of our story. She is not only a symbol of our love for animals, but also a living example of the heart and soul that define our resort.
Chai’s journey to us
Chai’s story began in November 2023 when she was spotted wandering the beach in the town of Bucerías, chased by a pack of dogs. Calm, social, and clearly familiar with human love, she stood out right away. She wasn’t malnourished or fearful, but no one ever came forward to claim her.
The compassionate team at A Dog’s New Life took her in, shared her story, and searched for her family, but the mystery of her past remained unsolved. What was certain was her nature: Chai was gentle, affectionate, and motherly, with a rare kind of emotional intelligence.
After being spayed, vetted, and prepared for adoption, fate had other plans. Before she could be matched with a new family, she found us at Marival Distinct Handwritten Collection. From that moment, she became part of our family, and part of yours too.
